When the Council needed maps that actually made sense.

Road closures, detours and roadworks are a fact of life in any growing district. Communicating them clearly to the public? That's where things can get messy.

Timaru District Council came to us needing a set of district maps for social media, ones that could showcase road closures, works and detours without confusing the very people they were trying to help.

Simple brief. But we knew we could make something really good.

We worked closely with the Council's existing brand identity so the maps felt immediately recognisable as theirs, no reinventing the wheel, just smart graphic design that built on what was already there.

The result is a clean, consistent set of maps that are high quality enough to zoom right in and still read clearly, capturing every public street across the district without turning into a confusing wall of lines and labels. Highways, landmarks, hospitals, parks and community facilities all laid out so residents can find what they need at a glance.

No graphic design degree required to understand it. That was the whole point.

The maps aren't a one-off either, they're a reusable asset the Council can pull out whenever they need to communicate something to the district. Good design should keep working for you long after the project wraps up.
